Name: Ahmed Hassan
Previous title: Vice president and general manager, CVS PBM Care Management
New title: President, Omnicare
Hassan, who will assume the role of president Friday, will be tasked with leading CVS’ long-term care business and formulating business strategy. He replaces former president Jim Love, who occupied the role for two years before stepping down at the end of April.
Omnicare provides pharmacy services for long-term care and post-acute care facilities, including assisted living and senior living communities. It was acquired by CVS Health in 2015 for a total enterprise value of about $12.7 billion in a bid to expand CVS’ prescription reach in the elder care population.
In his previous role, Hassan oversaw operations, product development, sales and account management for CVS Caremark’s Care Management portfolio, which includes companies like Accordant, Transform Diabetes Care and Health Advisor. Caremark is CVS’ pharmacy benefit management arm.
Prior to joining CVS in 2015, the incoming president worked in health and life sciences consulting. He holds a MBA from Kellogg School of Management.
