Name: Benjamin Schwartz
Previous title: Senior vice president and a physician executive for the eastern region of Northwell Health
New title: President of BHSH Beaumont Health
Schwartz, will become the new president of Beaumont Health beginning July 5, the Michigan health system announced this week.
Schwartz will lead Beaumont following its merger with Spectrum Health earlier this year. The deal created a $13 billion health system, which operates 22 hospitals and a health plan that covers 1 million Michigan residents.
Beaumont’s facilities are located around the Detroit region while Spectrum’s dot the western side of the state.
Together, the new group, BHSH System, searched for a leader who was focused on driving excellence and was a strong developer of teams and culture, BHSH System CEO Tina Freese Decker said in a statement.
“Dr. Schwartz exemplifies these qualities,” Decker added.
Schwartz, who is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, comes to Beaumont from Northwell Health where he served as senior vice president and was a physician executive there.
Schwartz replaces John Fox, who left the organization following the merger.
